CHARACTER NAME: Lisbeth Salander aka Wasp
SERIES: Millennium series: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest. Mostly from the Swedish movie set but some book will be incorporated too
CHRONOLOGY: At the end of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
CLASS: Antihero
BACKGROUND:
*** This history contains stuff of a disturbing nature including rape and violence. It will never be discussed/used ICly within the game and would never be mentioned without warning first. Just… so you know… ***
From an early age, Lisbeth has lived a troubled life, born into a dysfunctional family to a Swedish mother and a former Soviet spy under the protection of an illegal faction, the Section, within the Swedish Security Police. As a child she was witness to constant abuse from her father towards her mother, with violence that was never punished due to her father's protection under the Section. Unsurprisingly the constant visuals of cruelty made Lisbeth into a rather hostile young girl, and although intelligent, she was seen by the school as antisocial, violent and possibly retarded. Salander was, in fact, simply unwilling to speak to teachers who she viewed as accusatory over her episodes of lashing out, which were- in her eyes- merely self-defence against any school bullies who thought it a good idea to pick on her.
At the age of twelve, Lisbeth was present for yet another domestic incident resulting in her father beating her mother so badly that she was left with permanent brain damage. Upset by the brutality and having no luck with police involvement (who believed not a word of Lisbeth's tales of abuse), Lisbeth retaliated in the only way she knew how; violence. With the aid of some accelerant and a match, Lisbeth set her father alight, leaving him disfigured with around 80% burns over him.
Unfortunately for her, rather than the authorities siding with Lisbeth and her mother, the Section forced forward their powers to protect her father from being exposed, pushing for Lisbeth to be declared legally insane and having her committed to a Children's Psychiatric Hospital. Whilst there she was subjected to constant restraints, being tied down for days and weeks on end under the surveillance of kiddy abusing psychologist for several years. By the time she's released, she's labelled as legally incompetent, forcing her under the watchful eye of a guardian. For years she's appointed under a man called Palmgren, who left her to her own devices for the most part, and who aided her in getting a job at a security firm, Milton Security. At first she's expected to make coffee and copies, but she soon proves her worth as an impressive and competent researcher, becoming one of Milton's star employees. Despite several run ins with the police during her teenage years, Palmgren teaches Lisbeth that she must consider the consequences of her actions, eventually becoming one of the only people in her life that she comes to trust.
It works well enough for her for some time, until her guardian falls ill with a near fatal stroke and Lisbeth is appointed a new guardian, Nils Bjurman. From their first meeting, Salander realises he'll be nothing like Palmgren, having her own money restricted to her and stricter rules imposed. Soon enough, Bjurman also exposes himself as a sadistic asshole who rapes and tortures Lisbeth with the excuse that she must do something for him to obtain her monetary allowance. Refusing to take it to the police due to a lack of respect for authority and the impression that they would believe a 'respectable' guardian over a 'mentally incapable' young female, Lisbeth decides to take matters into her own hands, being proactive rather than make herself a victim. Despite first considering murder, she remembers her old guardians advice that every action has consequences, so instead decides to control her new guardian rather than kill him and have him replaced by an equally sadistic asshole. She returns to Bjurman with video footage from a previous rape between them, tying him up and torturing him in return while forcing him to watch the video, along with tattooing the fact that he's a sadistic rapist across his stomach. After this, Lisbeth is once again granted full access to her funds and left to her own devices.
During her employ under Milton Security, Salander is given the job of researching a reporter by the name of Mikael Blomkvist, using her astute hacking knowledge to find out all the private details of his life and pass her findings onto her contractor. Even after the job is done, Lisbeth finds herself still keeping on eye on Mikael, apparently intrigued by him and his latest work, yet stalking and hacking from afar. That is, until Mikael shows up at her front door having found out about her antics and, instead of berating her, hires her to help him in investigating a possible murder of a young girl from forty years ago.
Mikael and Lisbeth work together well and soon develop an understanding, Mikael using his pure determination and reporter skills to find out the truth while Lisbeth uses her photographic memory, sharp intelligence and hacking abilities to piece bits together. The two develop an unsteady sort of relationship while working together, though Salander finds difficulty in displaying her feelings beyond sex and snide comments, all of which Blomkvist takes with the patience of a saint.
They manage in under a year what police hadn't managed in forty, and solve the case of the missing girl (who turns up alive and well), during which Lisbeth saves Mikael's life from a murdering psychopath, who she chases down until they crash and burn in a very literal sense.
With that all over with, Lisbeth sets her sights on helping Mikael bring down a corporate giant who had previously got Blomkvist imprisoned for libel charges. While she hacks all the data Mikael needs to get a full and libel free report against the mogul, Lisbeth breaks into the business bank accounts with her computing skills and then uses various physical disguises to travel to various off-shore accounts and withdraw billions of Swedish kronor for herself. Although admitting to herself that she's in love with Mikael, Lisbeth believes he's more interested in another woman and so she breaks off all contact and retreats abroad to go travelling.
Aaand sometime at the end of all that is when she'll appear in The City.
PERSONALITY:
Lisbeth is a sharp, intelligent young computer hacker with an eye for the truth. Although exceptionally bright, with a photographic memory and an ability to piece together complex puzzles, Salander is seen by many to be stupid and, in some cases, retarded due to her asocial attitude. With her past as it was, she finds it difficult to integrate with society, making her a highly introverted individual who is unwilling to communicate. Unused to interaction, Lisbeth also struggles with empathy, making her not only unable to display any level of compassion, but also making it difficult for her to form any sort of close bonds or relationships with people. Due to this she comes across as cold and detached, but there's a somewhat friendly side to Lisbeth that occasionally seeps when trust is finally developed.
Sometimes unable to filter, words and phrases can often be taken to heart by Lisbeth, meaning she's not always able to differentiate between humour, taking things literally when they're often not meant in that manner. She does, however, display her own level of humour to be dry and ironic and she's prone to using it in defence against those close to her.
For those who don't know her, she's seen as sullen, irksome, irritable and silent, and she rarely makes any attempt to correct these first impressions, keen to push people away from her rather than be forced to interact with them. Interaction for Lisbeth should be done under her own terms and only when she feels like it. When pushed, Salander can become violent, though only lashing out in self-defence against those that pose a threat to her. With quite a temper on her when riled up, she proves to be an impressive foe even against males much larger and heavier than her, using her knowledge of boxing and her small stature to out manoeuvre, along with a fighting spirit to keep her going.
Lisbeth is a fighter, both mentally and physically. She endures all manner of horrific situations and ploughs through them virtually unscathed. She struggles to feel anything emotional, even after being subject to violence, instead planning her revenge with precision. She hates being a victim, preferring to see herself as independent and able to deal with whatever life throws at her. She even quotes that she'd rather be beaten to death than take any shit.
Salander is thought to have Asperger's Syndrome by Mikael, although Lisbeth refuses to be psychologically examined due to her previous bad experiences with psychs. During her childhood she was labelled as paranoid, psychotic, obsessive, schizophrenic and egomaniacal psychopath, although this evaluation came from a corrupt and child abusing psychologist. It is widely speculated that Lisbeth might also display numerous signs of antisocial personality disorder due to her inability to conform, irritability, along with her rationality in regards to harming others.
Despite all of this, Lisbeth can be oddly alluring, her oddities appealing to some, and her friendship being somewhat rewarding to those who have the patience to spend time with her. Once allowing herself to be close to someone, she can be surprisingly friendly, and once someone has her trust she'll often go out of her way to help them. She displays such affection to a younger male named George as she befriends and aids him after meeting him while travelling, along with caring for her previous guardian Palmgren and trying to seek further specialised care for him at her own cost. She also provides Miriam Wu- a female who she has an on and off relationship- a home for free with no catch other than to keep hold of her own mail that gets sent there. Mikael Blomkvist ended up being her main interest once she met him, and although she often switched between loving him and showing a complete disinterest in him, Lisbeth couldn't help but open herself up to him after realising he wasn't a threat. Salander also allows herself some feelings towards Miriam Wu, although their relationship is sporadic. It is, sadly, difficult for her to remain with a single person for long, but if anyone has a chance of winning her over, it's Mikael...
POWER:
Lisbeth has no canon powers so her Porter granted abilities shall be:
Technopathy; does what it says on the tin. Lisbeth will be able to communicate with most technology through touch and (after some practice) with her mind. It'll make her life as a hacker a hell of a lot easier and will mean she has deeper understanding of all things technological.
Endless cigarettes; the packet of marlboros she brought with her will refill when closed and opened again, giving her a constant supply of cigarettes.

Heroes. Villains. Super powers. Sounds like a teenage boy's wet dream. A matted and smeared comic book, pages stuck together after one too many fap attacks gracing it's ink.
So which one of you shitheads runs this place?
[Another inhale and exhale and the tinny slurp of someone drinking out of a can.] Take me to your leader, nerdoids, or this shit is about to get ugly.
LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE:
Fuck the Porter and fuck this City.
Lisbeth had never enjoyed being told what to do or where to be, and having some sci-fi computer shithead weaving her stories of heroism was no different. She'd scoffed when that word had been used. 'Hero'. As if she was actually expected to roll up her leather sleeves and save the day. She didn't owe society shit and she was happy to keep it that way. Even the free commicator was taken with reluctance as if she felt it to be some debt she'd undoubtedly have to pay back. Same goes for the housing, but right now she didn't have much choice; finding out what the fuck was going on would require electricity and an internet connection, both of which she can't find on a park bench.
She'd kept her head down and hood up for the journey there, slipping into the apartment block and finding her room without fuss, avoiding drawing any attention to herself. She barely even spared the room a look beyond a glance to make sure it's empty, instead chucking her bag onto the nearby table and grabbing for her laptop.
It hits her like an electric shock that has her coiling back from the still shut Mac, eyes narrowing in vague confusion before she reaches for it again, more careful this time as she encloses a small hand around it. It's indescribable, the familiar, content buzz that the computer gives off at her touch, like a warm greeting from an old friend. It's unthreatening. Willing, even.
She opens it and withdraws.
The computer jumps to life, dragging itself out of sleep mode and merely waiting like any computer would for the next touch a key or stroke of the pad.
A slow blink and she reaches again, leaning down to brush her fingers against the trackpad. 'Hi :D' the mac seems to say. 'Fuck off' Lisbeth seems to say. It's silent for a few moments, until she boots up her hacking program Asphyxia, her fingers barely touching the keys as the computer comes up with the predicted entry before she's finished typing:
FIND_BLOMKVIST_LAPTOP//MILLENNIUM
wait
…
no trace… And then an unspoken but clear sorry :( that echoes in her mind.
Fuck.
She tries various methods, ignoring whatever her laptop might be trying to tell or advice her. This is what madness feels like, she's decided, but whatever it's never stopped her before.
It's only after all avenues have been tried that she pauses, dragging out a cigarette and snatching up her communicator. Fuck it, she's got a lot to read up on, might as well start now...
FINAL NOTES:
Lisbeth will be showing up with her shoulder bag containing her macbook pro, her taser, a packet of marlboro and a few folders of entirely not useful research now that she's in the City...
